Music Education & Mentorship

The Black American Music Foundation understands the importance of music education, higher education and the barriers many in our communities face to attain it. Our goal is to remove as many of these obstacles as we can to help young people succeed, discover careers in the music industry and music programs to help enhance their proficiencies in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).

We are focused on returning music education into our community, through history lessons and music lessons. Music is a protean art; it lends itself easily to alliances with words, as in song, and with physical movement, as in dance. Throughout history, music has been an important adjunct to ritual and drama and has been credited with the capacity to reflect and influence human emotion. Music is also based in science: sound is produced when something vibrates – and those vibrations are brought to the ear as sound waves. And it's mathematical, varying in pitch, volume, tempo, and rhythm.

The Black American Music Foundation in association with the Black American Music Association are working to provide educational opportunities for youth and young adults as well as the public at large to learn more about the history of Black Music through the initiative’s micro-websites access by QR codes. The public will be able to access the QR code which leads them to information on the history of Inductees and the role they have played in creating and sustaining Black Music as an art form. As the platform evolves, the site becomes interactive and enhanced with more historical content beyond awareness of solely the trailblazing Inductees to include community-based discussions with influential and iconic industry figures focused on Black Music and entertainment.

Community Educational Programming - Our Voter Education initiative, which encompasses engaging youth in Poll Worker initiatives. And educating youth and the community about the importance of Civic Engagement and participating in the voting process. We will continue to host in-person discussions, with community leaders and partner organizations; we are sponsoring the HBCU and College focused Guide to building a Poll Worker Project.

Scholarship Partnership
with the
International Entertainment
Buyers Association

The Black American Music Foundation, Inc. has partnered with the International Entertainment Buyers Association to provide scholarships to college/university/trade school students enrolled in music and entertainment courses and curricula.

IEBA is the leading not-for-profit trade organization for live entertainment industry professionals who buy, book, and sell talent. Founded in 1970, IEBA provides an unparalleled forum for professional development. As a resource and a network representing billions of dollars in buying power, IEBA is an intimate organization that makes a huge impact.

IEBA and its annual conference stand alone in the entertainment business by showcasing a diverse and uniquely-crafted lineup of live entertainment and by hosting discussions with the entertainment industry’s leading innovators and decision makers. IEBA’s Agents Alley brings buyers and agents together to discuss the specifics of the upcoming touring season. “The Buying Starts Here” slogan originated from this long standing IEBA tradition.

IEBA was conceived by two talent buyers — Hubert Long and Harry “Hap” Peebles. Peebles and Long felt that talent buyers needed a voice in the entertainment industry. They believed that a group of buyers could share information and, with this shared knowledge, make better decisions. And these informed business decisions would lead to increased success. From two founding members in 1970 to over 1,900 active members in 2022, IEBA’s focus remains the same: strengthen relationships, foster growth, and increase revenue for the live entertainment industry.
