Civic Engagement

We partnered with Voting Rights Are Civil Rights Project and several entertainment industry groups, community organizations, activists and election commissioners. Our coalition focuses on staffing Poll Workers, voter education, voter protection and combating voter suppression. To date our coalition recruited, trained and provided employment opportunities to more than 36K youth throughout the country.

Our Make Every Vote Count initiative is ongoing. We've participated in online voter education information sessions, Virginia election, Social Justice, and how to be an advocate for Police Reform, and New Voting Law educational and informational discussions. We sponsored several Youth Engagement forums and panels, as well as helped shape the Youth Poll Workers Guide which will be disseminated to High Schools and Colleges. The continuation of funding will help us reach more key communities and will give us the ability to host college outreach and engagement as well as host more Civic Engagement discussions and forums.

We have begun our support for an acceptance of College IDs as a Voter Verification initiative. With the current gerrymandering, it is imperative that we increase our efforts to get underserved communities out to the polls to protect their votes. This gives us an opportunity to implement our civic engagement activities using the power of our music as a catalyst of change and a way to engage young people in their communities.
